What are the members of your tribe saying about you or your business? Do you care? If not, you should. If you sell a product of service – I can promise people are talking about you and your product.
Does it make sense to spend large amounts of money marketing your products while ignoring some of your most powerful marketers (your customers, the members of your tribe)? The members of your tribe (your customers) are busy talking about their experiences with you, your business and probably your products. Don’t you want to be a part of the conversation? I do.
Here’s what you should do. Search the internet (blogs, Twiiter, etc.) for your business name, products you sell, etc. Do this every day. When you find a person who’s writing about your company – engage them in conversation. If they’re writing good things – give them a thankful comment. If they’re writing negative things – find out what the problems are. Use the opportunity to learn about your business from an angle you’ll never replicate in a traditional research environment. Also, use the opportunity to correct problems that have happened with particular customers. DON’T do anything to make the situation worse – like trying to shut person up.
Your tribe (customers) wants to know that you care – that you’re listening to them. You might be amazed at result of seeking out disgruntled tribe members. When properly cared for – they could become your greatest allies.
