Pssst. Have a special communication for your tribe? Share a secret message with them.
One type of special communication is a secret called an easter egg – an intentionally-hidden message left by the tribe leader or the creator within their creation.
The eggs might be pictures of the development crew concealed in software, special power-ups and levels embedded in computer games, hidden tracks on a CD, even visual cues like Alfred Hitchcock’s cameo appearances.
Every time a member discovers a new easter egg she gains special tribal cred and the tribe gains new things to experience. This tightens the tribal bond and entices new members to play the game or watch the movie over and over, experiencing the known easter eggs and hoping to find new ones.
By nature, those on the outside looking in are painfully curious to learn the inner secrets of the tribe. This sense of exclusivity - of being an insider - enhances the connection between those who know the tribe's secrets.
What kind of easter eggs could you leave for your tribe to discover and share?
